it's a sculpture which hangs precariously above the road which runs past the national gallery. It's pretty cool. The last one (one which actually looked more like the earth, but which was constructed in a similar fashion) got struck by lightning one night, and apparently the curator of the gallery and some other people returned to work the next morning to find it lying on the road in pieces...

it would. As a metaphor though... it's possible that much of the earth will be a metallic wasteland one day. Heck, much of it already is!
